$9 Introductory Fares* Available at www.spiritair.com

Miramar, Florida (December 18, 2008) – Ultra low cost carrier Spirit Airlines announces that it will start new daily non-stop service from its Fort Lauderdale home to Medellín, Colombia, including daily connections from 16 cities in the United States. This will complement Spirit’s current Colombian service, including Bogota and Cartagena which were inaugurated earlier this year.

Spirit is kicking off its new service with introductory fares from $9* each way available today and tomorrow at www.spiritair.com.

The daily service will be operated with Spirit’s fleet of Airbus A319s, the youngest in the Americas.

“We are extremely pleased to be able to liberate millions of Colombians from high fares as we’ve already done in Cartagena, Bogota and other cities in the region,” said Spirit Airlines Chief Marketing Officer Barry Biffle.  “Our third destination in Colombia offers over 100 million people in North America with low fare access to Colombia via our network of connections in Fort Lauderdale from 16 cities in the United States.”

The city of Medellín, with more than 3 million inhabitants, has become one of the most important capitals for fashion in the region.  In addition, its year-round spring-like climate and location at 5,000 feet above sea level, provides an excellent backdrop for walking, restaurants, shopping, nightlife, coffee production and commercial centers.  Medellín also has become a primary destination for congresses, fairs and conventions for the entire Latin America and Caribbean region.  The annual convention of the Inter-American Development Bank will take place there in March 2009.

Referring to the new Spirit Airlines flight to Medellín, Oscar Rueda García, Vice Minister of Tourism of Colombia said:  “Spirit’s arrival marks a new stage in the history of tourism in Medellín and Antioquia, and we are looking forward to these excellent fares in promoting tourism to the country.  This new stage of flying began to Cartagena this past May 8, 2008, and to Bogota this past July 24, 2008.”

“It is good news for Medellín to count on a new company with competitive prices that will invigorate and increase the tourism sector to our city, allowing us to advance in our effort to build a more global city,” said Medellín Mayor Alonso Salazar Jaramillo.
