Welcome to FREE SPIRIT, our frequent flyer program designed to reward you for traveling with Spirit! FREE SPIRIT is unique - unlike many of those other frequent flyer programs, all the miles you earn count towards your status, including miles earned through partner programs like the
FREE SPIRIT MasterCard ®*.

Each FREE SPIRIT account must have a unique e-mail address. This way you don't have to remember another number or username to access your FREE SPIRIT information.

Program Basics

Tracking FREE SPIRIT Activity

Your FREE SPIRIT account information can be accessed through spiritair.com.

You will find your FREE SPIRIT balance, a history of any mileage that was earned or redeemed, your current tier status and your current rank.


Mileage Activity Posting
Miles from travel will be posted to your FREE SPIRIT account within 10 days of travel. Purchases made with the FREE SPIRIT MasterCard*, bonus miles, and partner miles may take up to 8 weeks to be posted to your account. Only miles that are posted to your FREE SPIRIT account are included in the end of the month and end of the membership year calculations.

Mileage Expiration
As long as you earn at least 2,000 miles within the previous six months, your miles won’t expire. If you don’t meet that requirement, any miles older than six months will expire. Because the FREE SPIRIT program calculates your status on a monthly basis, any miles that will expire do so at the start of every month. There is a way to keep your miles from expiring if you can’t satisfy the 6 month earning requirements. Read on to find out more…

Example 1:
In the example below, at the beginning of February, this account holder earned 2,500 miles in the preceding 6 month period (September through January). Because the minimum 2,000 miles have been posted to the account in the previous 6 months, no miles will expire.

** Active card holders are defined as members who make at least one purchase per billing period on their FREE SPIRIT MasterCard.

Keep Your Miles From Expiring…

Don’t want to keep track of mileage activity? If you want to make sure and keep all of your earned miles, get the FREE SPIRIT MasterCard and make just one purchase per month** - then your miles will never expire as long as you use your card once per month.

Remember, you earn miles by flying with Spirit but you can also earn miles by taking advantage of great FREE SPIRIT offers from partners like Hertz, the FREE SPIRIT Mall and Spirit Vacations. Your miles won't expire when you have at least 2,000 miles posted to your FREE SPIRIT account over the previous 6 month period from any source.

If you have miles in your FREE SPIRIT account that will expire on a certain date, you must have enough miles credited to your account before the mileage expiration date. You need 2,000 miles posted to your account in the past 6 months to keep miles from expiring.

Earning Miles

Flying With Spirit


We will automatically track qualifying FREE SPIRIT reservations and flights when your FREE SPIRIT account number appears in your reservation record. Your FREE SPIRIT number can be added to your reservation anytime prior to departure and miles will be automatically credited to your account when your FREE SPIRIT number is added to your reservation.

If you have already flown, please note that miles must be requested within 30 days after the last flight on your itinerary. You can request mileage in your FREE SPIRIT account profile as shown below.

FREE SPIRIT miles are awarded to the actual customer(s) traveling on the reservation. FREE SPIRIT miles will not be awarded for BIG FRONT SEAT upgrades purchased at the airport or on board the flight and will be awarded based on the original class of service purchased. FREE SPIRIT award tickets are not eligible to earn mileage.

To receive automatic mileage credit, the name on your FREE SPIRIT account must exactly match the name on your reservation. Due to FAA security regulations, you should have your tickets issued in a legal name that matches your government issued photo ID rather than a nickname.

To add your FREE SPIRIT number to your reservation, please see below:

  1. If you booked your ticket on spiritair.com

    To ensure you receive credit for travel on Spirit, login to your FREE SPIRIT account, book your trip through spiritair.com and enter your name exactly as it appears on your FREE SPIRIT account.

    If you do not log in to your FREE SPIRIT account, you can add your FREE SPIRIT number during the purchase process. Enter your FREE SPIRIT number, along with the FREE SPIRIT numbers of anyone you might be traveling with, in the passenger information section.



    If you have already booked your reservation, but did not enter your FREE SPIRIT number, you may request credit through spiritair.com before your flight up until 30 days after your flight. If you need help, just follow the “Request Mileage Credit” procedure below.

Requesting Mileage Credit

Please note that mileage may take up to 10 days to post following your flight, and that we can only process requests submitted up to 30 days after your last flight taken on that itinerary.

If you have already completed the purchase of your ticket or have already flown, follow these steps to add your FREE SPIRIT number to your reservation and to request mileage credit.

  1. Login to your FREE SPIRIT account using the e-mail address on your FREE SPIRIT account or your FREE SPIRIT number along with your password.

  2. Once you login to your FREE SPIRIT Account, please click on "Request Mileage Credit" on the left hand navigation bar.



  3. On the Request mileage credit page, please enter your six character record locator or six character Web ID from your spiritair.com reservation in the box shown in the image below, and click the "REQUEST MILEAGE CREDIT" button to submit your request.

 

If you were a member and traveled using your nickname or a new legal name that has not been updated on your FREE SPIRIT account and you did not receive automatic FREE SPIRIT miles for a flight, please submit a written request along with copies of your receipt, boarding passes, or ticket along with legal identification that includes your nickname or the legal documents that support your name change with your request. Please note that we will not be able to credit your FREE SPIRIT account without the supporting legal documentation. Send your documents to:

Membership Tiers

Ever wonder who has the most miles in a particular loyalty program? Shouldn't the number one mileage holder in a program receive some sort of recognition? But shouldn't a new member also feel special? At FREE SPIRIT, we couldn't agree more and we've created various membership tiers to reward you accordingly.

We count them all. Our status levels are different than other programs because all of your miles count towards your status; whether earned by flying, through bonus miles, special offers, or through spending with your FREE SPIRIT MasterCard.

The FREE SPIRIT Membership year runs from November 1 through October 31 of the following year.

Rankings

Members can login to spiritair.com and view their current ranking.

Unlike most other frequent flyer programs, all of the miles earned from flown miles, bonus miles, credit card miles, and partner miles that have been earned in the preceding 6 months will be totaled. Your status level will be updated on the second business day of each month and will be based on the preceding 6 months of activity.

For example, in October, the second business day of the month is October 2nd. Your status level and your rank will be posted to your FREE SPIRIT account on October 2nd and will be based on miles posted to your FREE SPIRIT account from April to September.

At the end of the membership year±, the total number of miles earned from flown miles, bonus miles, credit card miles, and partner miles in the entire year will determine the final Celebrities of the Year and the #1 member in the FREE SPIRIT program.

Red Carpet Contest

At the end of the membership year±, the total number of miles earned from flown miles, bonus miles, credit card miles, and partner miles in the entire year will determine the final Celebrities of the Year and the #1 member in the FREE SPIRIT program. Celebrities of the Year

Members who rank 2 through 10 based on annual mileage earned will be named Celebrities of the Year.

Requesting Awards

All awards must be requested through a member’s FREE SPIRIT account via spiritair.com. Spirit telephone reservations and airport ticket counters are unable to provide FREE SPIRIT account details or book award travel.

Customers need to request award travel via the booking request form on their FREE SPIRIT account profile located on spiritair.com and a FREE SPIRIT representative will contact customers to complete award travel bookings. Be sure to enter the correct contact information since our representatives will need to collect a form of payment for associated taxes and fees for your travel.

We recommend booking early to ensure the best opportunity to secure your preferred flights and travel dates.Travel itineraries will not be confirmed solely based upon submission of your request and is subject to availability; an agent will contact you to complete the award travel booking, so please plan accordingly.

All award ticket redemption requests must be submitted at least 7 days prior to departure.

Please allow up to 72 hours after submission before contacting Spirit if you have not received a confirmation email or correspondence from FREE SPIRIT Member Services.

Important Details Regarding Award Travel

You can redeem your miles to book award travel in another person's name. Name changes are permitted on Award tickets for a $70 fee. However, transferring miles between FREE SPIRIT accounts is not permitted at this time.

Taxes and Fees For Award Travel

FREE SPIRIT members are responsible for paying all applicable taxes and fees (including Customs, inspection, immigration, security, agriculture, facility and departure/arrival charges, any administrative fees and the September 11th US Security Fee of up to $10 roundtrip) and obtaining necessary travel documents for award travel. A credit card will be required at time of booking to pay for any applicable fees and taxes.

Mileage Redeposit

Only wholly unused Award Tickets may be cancelled and unused mileage redeposited. Once travel has commenced on an Award ticket, the Award is considered used. Mileage for any unused portion will not be redeposited into your account. A per passenger redeposit fee of $70 will apply for mileage redeposit requests. Award Tickets must be cancelled at least 7 days prior to the first date of travel.

Changes to Award Tickets

Customers may modify a portion of their award ticket or cancel for a $70 fee. Changes must be made at least 7 days prior to departure of your flight.

If you need to make a change to an award ticket where travel has not yet commenced on your flight, you must cancel and re-book your award ticket at least 7 days prior to your initial date of departure. You will need to login under "My Reservations" and click on the “Cancel My Reservation” button. This will send us your change request and we will contact you to modify their booking. A $70 mileage redeposit fee will be assessed for modifying an unflown award ticket itinerary and you must book the new ticket based at the current applicable award levels.

Customers are able to make modifications to the return portion of their travel itinerary for a $70 modification fee when submitted at least 7 days prior to departure of their return flight. These changes include, but are not limited to, changing the origin, destination, stopover city, flight or class of service. You will need to login under "My Reservations" and click on the "Modify" button next to the applicable flight segment you wish to modify. This will send us your change request and we will contact you to modify your booking.

There are no changes permitted within 7 days of departure.

FREE SPIRIT mileage will not be earned on award bookings.

Name Changes


If your name has legally changed since joining the FREE SPIRIT program, please mail a signed, written request detailing the reason for the change to:

Please make sure to include the supporting legal documentation for your name change, such as a marriage license, court order, divorce decree or legal name change document. We will not be able to change your FREE SPIRIT account without the supporting legal documentation.

Important Information


Spirit Airlines may change the FREE SPIRIT program at any time. The FREE SPIRIT rules, regulations, benefits, conditions of participation or mileage levels for awards, tickets and cities served, in whole or in part, or status levels at any time with or without notice, even though changes may affect the value of the mileage already accumulated may also change without notice. All mileage and subsequent awards must be earned and used according to the rules and regulations of the FREE SPIRIT program. Complete rules and regulations will be maintained on spiritair.com. Spirit Airlines has the right to terminate the FREE SPIRIT program at any time. The English language terms and conditions on spiritair.com will be the controlling version. By participating in the program, participants agree that if they achieve the level of #1 then that person's name or likeness may be used by Spirit Airlines.
